December 09, 2025
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Hagerty Conference Center
715 East Front Street
Traverse City, MI 49686

About Our Session

This seminar will highlight key workplace legal issues HR professionals need to know now. We will cover the sharp rise in ICE-related matters seen in recent months and outline practical steps for staying prepared.

We will also explore emerging legal trends around AI in the workplace, along with other important developments impacting employers, including easy handbook and policy updates that offer immediate value and support compliance to recent changes in the law.

With a hands-on approach, the session will encourage HR leaders to think critically about these changes and provide practical takeaways.

About Our Speaker

A labor and employment attorney in Traverse City, Michigan, Anders focuses his practice on providing strategic advice to public and private-sector clients on day-to-day employment challenges, such as discrimination and harassment complaints, accommodations for individuals with disabilities, compliance with employee leave laws, wage and hour issues, and issues related to recruitment, hiring, performance management, terminations, and layoffs. Mr. Gillis regularly reviews and drafts employment policies, contracts, separation agreements, and handbooks. He also conducts workplace investigations and reviews, drafts, litigates, and counsels on noncompete, confidentiality, non-solicitation, and nondisclosure issues.

Mr. Gillis prefers a proactive approach so employers and employees can stay out of the courtroom. But when necessary, Mr. Gillis represents employers before courts and administrative agencies. Mr. Gillis has tried numerous cases, and his litigation experience includes individual, class, and collective actions. Mr. Gillis regularly writes on employment law and is the author of the book “Employment Law & Remote Work [amazon.com].” Prior to rejoining Parker Harvey, Anders served as the in-house employment counsel for a national mortgage bank with employees in over 25 states.

In his spare time, Anders enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters skiing, biking, running, and paddling throughout northern Michigan. Anders also enjoys playing the guitar, harmonica, piano, and drums (whenever his family will tolerate it).
