TAHRA has regularly scheduled programs throughout the year with the exception of July and August. Programs are designed to educate on a variety of HR topics, from small employers where the HR professional wears many hats to large employers with many HR professionals. TAHRA is a SHRM Recertification Provider and an HRCI Approved Provider.

About Our Session:
Please join us for January’s session, where we’ll explore regional Emergency Management services and other safety topics applicable to HR professionals and people leaders. Gregg Bird (Emergency Management Coordinator- Grand Traverse County) will walk us through what Emergency Management services look like regionally, speak on critical infrastructure, and will walk us through the basic steps of “Run, Hide, Fight”. Please come poised with questions for this unique opportunity to speak with one of our regional safety leaders.
About Our Speaker:
Gregg Bird is an Emergency Management Professional with over 30 years of public safety experience. Gregg is the Emergency Management Coordinator for Grand Traverse County Michigan and an Emergency Management and School Safety instructor with Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training. Gregg is also the President and CEO of Preparedness 360 Solutions. Prior to his position in Michigan, Gregg was the Deputy Director of the Kent County, Maryland Office of Emergency Services, and a Fire Chief with Galena Fire Company.
Gregg’s passion is assisting communities and businesses with full circle emergency management services using his multitude of experience, education, and training gained during his career.
Throughout his career, Gregg has completed emergency management deployments to Mississippi during Hurricanes Katrina & Rita, the state of Iowa during the Red River Floods of 2008, deployed to FEMA’s National Response Cordination Center and coordinated national state to state responses for Hurricanes Hanna, Gustav, and Ike in 2008, and the United States assistance to Haiti earthquake in 2010. Additionally, he led the response and recovery operations for Grand Traverse County following a catastrophic straight-line windstorm disaster affecting northern Michigan in 2015 and managed the warehousing and distribution of first responder personal protective equipment for 17 counties and 3 tribal nations in northern Michigan during the 2019-2021 COVID-19 pandemic response.
Gregg holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from University of Maryland University College, is a nationally Certified Infrastructure Protection Specialist, a 2018 graduate of FEMA’s Emergency Management Executive Leadership Academy, and a Certified Michigan Professional Emergency Manager.
