Psychological Safety: What it is, why it matters, and how to grow it

In this interactive class we will review some of the science behind the identification of Psychological Safety (PS) as a differentiating quality of high performing teams. We will discuss the role of the HR Professional for helping grow PS in your environments. And we will practice some of the concepts with exercises and discussion. Brett will share the 8 steps from his book Discovering Leaders Within: A modern guide for cultivating your team’s potential that Leaders can use to create a feeling of safety within their teams. Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of psychological safety and practical tools to grow it. 

Presenter Biography

Brett Larson is a Leadership Development Professional for Humessence, LLC with 5 years of Leadership Development experience and 29 years of leadership experience. Brett is able to inform research on what makes Leaders' effective with personal experience with both failure and success. He is able to detail how emotionally intelligent Leaders can create engaged employees and high-performing teams. Brett grew up in Traverse City, earned his BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the University of Colorado, and is an ICF certified professional Coach.
